Well, there's the SB Audigy2 which has ASIO2 drivers but they don't really work in any pro audio apps (meaning it DOESN'T really support ASIO...) but has great DirectX.

Then there's the M-Audio Revolution, should have great ASIO but has zero DirectX or Direct3D acceleration.

Any chance of both in one card well under $200? :Q I'm looking and I know my sound cards, but who knows, there might be some audio buffs on here that know already. :p

It doesn't have any DX acceleration?

In the few Revolution reviews out there they make it pretty clear there is NO DX or D3D acceleration. It'll work, but it would eat CPU cycles more than most onboard audio would, I guess. :(

I'm still hoping for one card that did it all.....
Then there's the nForce2 audio and Audigy2 cards. What makes me wonder is that they have ASIO drivers, but why do they not work in pro-audio programs??
I don't want this to cost a fortune... if nForce2 audio would do it, it would give me my excuse to upgrade my Shuttle SK41G to the Shuttle SB45G. :p

Terratec DMX 6Fire

Very good card. Superior to the Audigy 2 for music recording needs. Complete ASIO 2.0 and DirectSound support too.

you should be able to find reviews on google. for it and maybe better pricing. It's seriously look at that for a good entry level recording card. It can also handle your games and junk too but recording it it's strong suit whereas the Audigy is better for games. The Terratec cads also have some great optional breakout boxes/docks too. Much better then the Audigy platinum, but also aren't as cheap as the Audigy Plat.

also i am told the ASIO drivers are very mature and solid, unlike alot of other products out there. I don't know how well it interacts Cubase though.

Get something that bypasses Windows screwed up sound manipulation. (The kmixer 44->48khz conversion)
Don't remember which cards do this, but there's also a fix I believe.
avsforum

But remember, professional audio + dirext x support don't go together.

Get two sound cards.

I suppose I could use the Shuttle SK41G's internal audio for DX stuff... mind you, I think I've settled on the M-audio Audiophile 24/96. It's got everything I need on one card, including MIDI ports, and does DX as well as flawless ASIO.
It's even on sale... but it's $225 CDN.... yikes.
