wanted: replace the "explorer" that opens with winkey+e

I'm thinking of trying a third party "file manager" instead of windows explorer, but I commonly open it by using the winkey+e shortcut.

Is there any way to modify this behavior to open a totally different progra,?

Unless you are too used to doing it that way, you could just use a different shortcut like ctrl+alt+e. I don't know how you would go about changing what winkey+e does.

I've been using that combo for years, although I may still just stick with the default explorer. Of course knowing how to change it (if even possible) would be a useful tidbit anyways.

A useful utility called WinKey will allow you to create keyboard shortcuts using the Windows key. Unfortunately it will not let you re-assign Windows built-in shortcuts.

close, but I would like to modify the built in shortcut, I was looking into this earlier today before posting. I'm thinking this may be hardcoded into a dll, of course there may be ways around it.
