Is there such a beast?

I need to get 2 dat files off 2 cds, join them, convert to avi, and burn to dvd for a friend. What is the best way to do this?

flaskmpeg is buggy and crashes a lot, as much is expected from a free utility, however I've found using combinations of more dedicated programs to be more effective (smartripper + vdub with the VFAPI converter for instance) 🙂
