I'd like a new cell phone/provider for calls/gmail use w/ qwerty preferably. I'm try to do this w/o spending more than 40-50 a month on a plan? Is this possible?

I was looking at either a lg vx9800 w/ verizon or a treo 650 in the sprint SERO plan. Or maybe a treo 650 with cingular.
Would a sidekick II work? I've heard sketchy things about tmobie so I don't know.

It just seems like there are 87 different way sof doing this with varying charging schemes. I don't live in a big city, so not every technology is available, but I don't need the fanciest/fastest solution. I just don't know much about wap. How these services connect to gmail and what extra charges, if any I would incur. I only have experience with nextel, and no mobile internet experience. If anyone that uses these providers or phones for gmail or mobile internet could chime in I would appreciate it. Thanks!

Well, where do you live?

Your location has a lot to do with which provider has the best signal quality, and you can definitely find a plan for ~$50 a month.

I go to school in Big Rapids, Michigan - which is nowhere. It's an hour north of Grand Rapids. If you go to any providers website, they will tell you they don't offer service in 49307. Which is not true because their coverage maps show it covered, and I have been here 4 years with nextel, and have friends with Tmobile, Cingular, Verizon, and Sprint. It's a college town with 10,000 students talking on their phone all day. It's just too far out for them to care I guess. There is a Sprint/Nextel store around the corner from my house. But their website will tell you they don't have service here. Go figure.

i was looking at the treo 650 too but I didn't like the heavy monthly fees for full service.

I think the only way to do it is to get the treo 700w, add in the $100 wifi card then pay for data per use.

post super bowl bump

would like to here from anyone who uses their phone to check email especially gmail from their phone. Thanks

tmobile is the cheapest, unlimited internet for $20 a month. if you have an edge capable phone, you get even faster speeds at no extra charge. My g/f has a SK2, but it doesn't have edge. she doesn't mind it that much. the only qwerty phone with edge is an imate kjam, and you're looking at spending $500 and up for something like that. what is your budget? regardless, I'd say tmobile is your best bet if you're budget conscious. there's the motorola a630, but it is very limited in what it can do. If all you want is email functionality, a blackberry might be something to consider as well.

ACtually I don't think Tmobile's internet will work here, because last I knew, and this was a while ago, they only have service here through a subcontractor. Will a treo 650 take advantage of the unlimited vision of teh sprint sero plan?
