runs and in good condition. Thinking about getting it just as something interesting to start out with.
I've looked at ninja's as well. 250's seem a bit too small for me (5'9, 180 lbs) and ninja 500's are pretty rare and get $$$ (I live just northwest of atlanta)
when you buy an older motorcycle like that, you might want to check how easy it is to get replacement parts in case something breaks. they may not manufacture parts for a 1972 bike anymore.
Yeah, look some more. Parts are expensive, when the exhaust rots out, you'll probably be screwed. I picked up my sisters 1980 CB650C for $150, but it needed some work on it: carbs cleaned out good, exhaust repair, new battery fuse setup. Still needs new piston rings. 🙂
I had a 72 or 73 Honda CB350Four. Four cylinder motor. It was a fun bike, but it couldn't get out of it's own way. I'd at least look for a 600 for a street bike.
It was bought for $100 and it's been passed around my family for $100.
$800 is way, way too much for that bike. My grandmother sold her Kawasaki 750 LTD for $800 about 6 years ago. The bike was in good shape and ran like a champ.
I bought a '92 EX (Ninja) 500 back in '99 for like $1500. You should be able to get one for less than that these days. $800 for a 30+ year old bike doesn't sound like a good deal to me but I don't know anything about that bike. For just starting you can get a nighthawk or something too. Just don't plan on keeping it for long but save the money for a better bike in a year or so.
I took at a look at suzuki gs500's... wow. I think I'm going to aim for that. I visited gstwin.com and the people there in general seem happier with their bikes than the ninja owners.
