BERLIN (Reuters) - A 73-year-old man who used an air raid siren to stun his wife into submission has had it confiscated by German police.

"My wife never lets me get a word in edgeways," the man identified as Vladimir R. told Mannheim police. "So I crank up the siren and let it rip for a few minutes. It works every time. Afterwards, it's real quiet again."

A police spokesman said neighbors had complained at the noise from the 220-volt rooftop device, believed to be an old-fashioned air raid siren.

Rosina, Vladimir's wife of 32 years, said she sometimes had to yell to get his attention. "My husband is a stubborn mule so I have to get loud."

Toll isn't the right word but gramatically, it's correct :)

They do actually... they have a couple, but they're pretty old. I think they're hand cranked too. I'll like an electrical one, and in better condition than the ones on ebay if possible. I'm seriously interested in a couple of those... they would make an awesome security measure to stun people.

Unless you live in a very rural setting, I strongly advise against doing this.

It's likely to get you arrested very quickly!

Text below from FAQ on airraidsirens.com

It depends a lot on where you live as to what you can get away with. In most states you will at least be violating a noise ordinance, unless you have a large enough plot that your siren is down to 70dB by the time it reaches the edge of your property line. In areas with active sirens for tornados, nuclear plants, etc. it is a serious crime to create a false alarm using a siren. In some states, it is explicitly illegal for anyone to operate a dual-tone siren, and in other states it is illegal to set off a civil defense alarm except during a designated and limited testing period.

In areas with active sirens, the laws are strictly enforced. In areas without sirens, the occasional blast will likely go unnoticed.
