I currently have a RADEON 8500. I like it alot but it does have its problems like unreal tournament. Now im thinking if i should take it back and get a Geforce 3 ti 500 (dont worry about cost). I want this video card to last 1 year. And iwant to buy now (or keep the radeon 8500). So in your own opinions would you take the radeon 8500 back and get a Visiontek geforce 3 ti 500 or would u keep the radeon 8500

I DONT NEED TV out or anyhting like that.

EDIT: Btw i run 2d at 1024x768 so i dont think 2d image quality is important since i believe the visiontek and the radeon would look THE SAME at this rez.

Thanks

Well, I'd get the GF3, but then again I'd have never got the 8500 in the first place.

Umm, what processor do you have, and you only want to run @ 1024x768 in both 2D and 3D??

And you only want it to last 1 year??

Why not get a lesser card, and then the Geforce 4, or wait for the price to drop on the RADEON and get better drivers (if they come??)

I've got a KYRO, and it was pretty sucky with an AMD 700 :(

But now I've got the AMD XP (1800+) and Jesus, its like I got a video card upgrade as well ;)

its in my system rig page :p

but its a 1.4ghz AMD T-BIRD

i have to get a new card. or i would have to use a Geforce 1 DDR :p

So far im thinking of keeping the radeon 8500 because so far all my games work and they seem to play well

1 year? a gf2 ultra would last more than a year...a radeon 8500 or a gf3 ti (200 or 500) would last a lot more longer...

i havent read a whole lot about the raedon's chip itself, but what i read about the geforce3's nv20 gpu, its pretty much revolutionary. but, since memory bandwidth and other such variables aren't really changing, its taking a lil while for games to catch up to the geforce3. but eventually they will, then those will look awesome.

my point: the geforce3, because not only does it perform better but even more because of its gpu, it will probably be able to last a lot longer.

maybe i should read more about the 8500...

The only reason I don`t buy ATi is because of driver quality so yes I would buy a GF3 ti500 since Nvidia drivers are excellent and I`m a hardcore gamer and never had any problems with them. Also the 2d is very good on the Visiontek.

I'm surprised noone has recommended the gf3ti200... it's well under $200, lil overclocking will offer stock gf3 performance, supports dx8 features, and it's stable.

perfect card for an "interim" upgrade.
