Want to visit my Father for Thanksgiving

I'm in Pennsylvania.

I made a last minute decision that my wife and I should go visit my Dad, who lives in Oregon. I have a bunch of PTO time to kill before the end of the year.

I'm just wondering if it's going to cost a fortune this time of year, and maybe now wouldn't be a good time because the airports would be extremely busy?

Instead of Airplane, would a train be less or more expensive... I wonder how long that would take...

a train cross country would be as expensive or more expensive than some flights. not to mention you're looking at possibly a 2-3 day trip.
