Want to upgrade my computer....

Here are the specifications on my computer:

Radeon X800 GTO
Pentium 4 Northwood 2.4 ghz
****** old intel mobo
1gb pc2300 ddr ram
2 7200 rpm ide hard drives

I was thinking about buying a new motherboard and processor, since my graphics card is still fairly new, but I do not know what to buy. It would have to be something with agp. This is just an upgrade to get as much as I can out of my computer before I eventually build a new one. Can anyone recommend some specific processors/motherboards? I checked newegg, and their selection of agp mobos is fairly limited, so any help provided would be greatly appreciated.

The motherboard has an AGP 8x slot so it definitely suits your needs. The Core 2 Duo is a pretty significant performance upgrade from your 2.4 GHz P4, so this may be a worthy consideration. Check your local fry's ads in the newspaper. These combo deals come around every week.
