OK....I have a radeon 8500 AIW card in there now and he runs at 1024 res with moderate settings and some things just turned off in need for Speed Undergounrd 2....Even less setting with FS2004....

he has an xp 2200+ tbred and 512mb of PC2700 ram on a Gigabyte NF2 mobo....

The AIW 8500 is a neutered 8500 anyways cause it runs at like 195/225 for speeds versus stock 8500's and 275/275....

What would be a nice upgrade to play above games as 1024 res with high settings....

Give me some suggestions...will accept idea of buying used on the for sale forums....

1) under 100 range

2) 100-150 range

Any higher an I would just get another 6800NU like I have in my rig....

no preference for ATI or Nvidia...either or is fine...

nonono, the 9700 pro off FS/FT or ebay would be twice as fast... for same (or less) money 🙂

:Q Really? Didn't know nVidia had an AGP 6200. Why dosen't ATI follow suit with the X series? They should realize that AGP will be around for a while.

Evidently you missed the whole "bridge chip" thing. NVIDIA can just put an extra (~$20) chip on their PCIe cards, and mount them on an AGP interface. ATI can't (at least yet; they have a similar gizmo in the works, but it's not ready).

Alright I will start looking for a 9700pro...70 bucks would be nice.. i have somione who will givve me 45 bucks for the all in wonder card...so 25 extra bucks is a worthwhile upgrade

Yeah, the 9700Pro is a good choice. Also, his CPU specs are a little anemic, I would try to look into something with the Barton core (you have an nForce2, so it will work with 333FSB). Personally, I would say the 2500+, as it is a great chip, and definitely for the money, but make sure the board has the latest BIOS, as earlier ones may not support the Barton core.

I dont think the cpu is the real bottleneck right now...I also dont want to replace the ram yet... I will likely upgrade him to an A64 setup (maybe this one) soon anyways....

Well, the only reason I was saying this is because being only a 2200+, it isn't that fast of a CPU, and this would effectively hinder performance with a 9700P. While NFSU2 will do better with a new video card, my cousin bought a 9800P to replace his aging GF3, and his CPU, (an Athlon XP 2100+) bottlenecked him more than the video did! If you don't want to do it, thats your choice, but I would seriously recommend doing it, espcecially since the CPU is a mere $76 SHIPPED. This would make his rig last a bit longer.
