cmon, you're gonna like it! you can always think of me and my continuous problems if it'll make you feel better, lol

BTRY, I thought your rig was built and working.

I sold my DDR3 1600 for 2000 and these sticks don't operate at 1800 without errors using Memtest86+ ... test 5 64 block moves fails... I can run them at 1:1 5.5.5.15 but not 1:2 9.9.9.24 Initially I was using a DDR2 board, my Asus P5Q Premium but faulty vcore voltage readings from HWmonitor lead me to believe the board was bad so I opted not to sell this board and use it with my DDR3 1600...(I also bought 2 new Enermax Revolution 950's out of it - 1 for my i7 build and 1 for this but shhhh don't' tell anyone) It wasn't the board; the board replacement will be here on Wed. the 28th so from there I'll be making another decision as this DDR3 2000 has a full refund RMA shipping label already in motion. So, I may after all sell this board and get a DDR2 platform or I may try different ram. My thoughts are now again back to the DDR2 DDR3 debate of which is better for gaming of that 1% difference (but I don't call myself a hardcore gamer - lol)

@ Aigo, lol

Me, I'm going to get a refund for the DDR3 2000. I purchased an Asus Maximus II Formula this morning so that means this board (P5Q3) has got to go, and go it will, even if I have to sell it for way cheap, like 125$ I'll just use 4g of the DDR2 900 I have from the other machine. I've checked to see how much is being used during games and i don't even come close to 75% more like 50% at most which still leaves plenty left over. I think all in all, I've about broke even except for the 2 Enermax Revolution 950s - thank god i'm still working...

you guys are hilarious!

Daw123: I dont have a reasonable explanation why I went with the Bloodrage. I just wanted to be a little different and have heard that the Bloodrage and DFI boards are getting the best results atm.

I had problems with my DFI X38 mobo and dont have the experience that a lot of you guys have so didnt want to have to tinker with the million adjustments they have over most other boards, lol which may be what i have to do with bloodrage.we will see.

Also the Bloodrage and DFI have the best best pwr mgmt from what i have found. I also dont want to run into the problems that BTRY is having, but he is not on I7 yet, so it could be different. There is plenty of support on Bloodrage @XS; so I thought I would try it.

What I should have maybe done is tried the Biostar being its the cheapest board right now will all the options; cause soon we will have better boards out in this price range probably.

As for the ram: I went with this deal cause its so cheap and the ram I really want is oos and much more expensive. Just like the mobos though; they will be releasing better ram very soon and prices should be dropping.

FTM I just need enough to get by with decent oc till this platform stabalizes and they release more toys to play with. Just a deja-vu of when i bought my first C2 duo system and went through approx 7 mobos, few sets of ram, and a good handful of cpu's.

On a side note I am now getting mixed results between K-350 and GTZ over @ XS, but plan on staying with K-350

I thought you were going to stay away from ASUS cause of pwr probs? just get you a Gigabyte UD3P and call it good for the 9650! Thats what i have the 9550 currently 4ghz@1.2v but as told you before I can run at 4.5ghz withough any major tweaks.

I've come to realize that voltage readings by software are waayyy too unreliable. Yeah, I know, i said I was done with Asus; just not on the 775 socket yet. I am still thinking going out and trying something new for my i7 build. Have you read the i7 "The tale of two processors" recent article on Anand? Guess what, i got a 3838 :( - the misery is just piling on, LOL :D - but I'm optimistic!!! - more out for my own experience on this one

no I havent checked it out, will check it out now though. I cant recall what evea was using; think a 3837. It could be hit or miss though. I have seen so many different results. I will keep my fingers crossed for you, lol.

still think you should try the gigabyte board. you can run quads at over 500-525, where as I think Asus is limited to 475-490. but I guess that doesnt matter too much for you; forgot you got the full 9x multi. damn you; I would love to have a 9650.

I think the K-350 is the way to go if you got the pump for it. Personally, I have yet to see a real "front runner" when it comes to performance vs. price paid so i'll stick to my Apogee GT and Fuzion V1 for now.

Holy crap, has it really been this long. This is what happens when I talk to Aigo.

He put too many thoughts into my head and being short on money screwed everything up. Now that I am currently back to F@H and started WCG (Compliments of Aigo). I have been doing research on making changes to my system and trying to build another system to be used as a NAS/Cruncher.

Also since I cant decide on a case, I have put my Wc project on hold temporarily.

I just found a good deal on a TRUE for my I7, so will be using that for the time being; need to get oc'd to get my WCG #'s up. I may browse the FS section as well to keep an eye out for deals on items. I will add a few more details within the week and see if I can post a few pics of my on desk I7 setup, lol

LOL; yes after 3 months I have made it nowhere. somewhere in this thread I have most of the parts listed.

case: no idea; either a ghetto build out of something from the garage/or desk setup. was thinking about a server rack, but will probably not accomodate WC

CPU block: Koolance 350
pump: 355(If I recall)
res/top
feser 360 rad most likely
BP blk chrome fittings

I have not gotten anything due to Aigo putting other thoughts in my head and lack of money so far this year.

will keep you posted and try to find the pics I took of my Foxconn bloodrage

Btry: your killing me, a few items you have sold I would have taken, lol. I think I got a good deal though, got 2 of the 1366 Rt TRUE's for $85 shipped! one brand new unopened and the other used for a day supposedly. we'll see

Same here. The 950 should be released the end of May.

Do you know if Gigabyte are releasing any new MBs (as a replacement to the UD5)?

I figure I'll wait until the 950 is released then buy the MB and RAM all at the same time, since DDR3 prices seem to be dropping.

I will be getting the MCubed T-Balancer bigNG 4-channel Fan Controller, Analogue sensor extension kit, and a flow meter before this though.

http://specialtech.co.uk/spsho...uct.php?productid=3157
http://specialtech.co.uk/spsho...uct.php?productid=2756

I'm not sure between these two flow meters.

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/133322

Its my birthday on 11th April, so I'll rask if my folks can buy the bigNG and I'll buy everything else.

Then after the above have been purchsed, I just need to buy a 150Gb Velociraptor (for the OS) and a second HD4870 X2, then it will be a kick ass rig.

BTRY and Infrnl, have you thought of any flow / temperature monitoring kit for your WC systems?

Found this in the FS thread - grab it quick

EDIT:

Flow and Temp monitoring can be observed in two ways for me. For me, my loop is working great but the thing I feel is if it ain't broke, don't fix it. This is the philosophy I am taking with my first loop. So, I will just keep listening for the absence of the pump noise and boot up core temp or real temp for cpu temps. I'm sure the water will get warmer when summer hits and I'll be able to log the spring and summer ambients to my cpu temps when stress testing. It'll be that way until I complete an i7 system which btw I am not sure if they are making any new boards for... but I hope. There might be new revisions to the current boards but that'll probably go as how Asus did the R3 revision of there NB for the MIIF board and then you'll have to wait and get lucky when the old stock runs out...

Thanks for the link BTRY. You are right that if it isn't broken then don't fix, however I want the hard shutdown option from the BigNG so that if something goes wrong with the pump or the loop springs a leak then my PC shuts down automatically very quickly.

Long time no talk fellas.

I do not recall if I stated what happened; so let me tell you the short story.

My main home is on another forum and guess who I ran into there....Aigo

We were talking one night and he tells me about World Community Grid; so I look into it and sign up, I was also a slow producer on F@H and later joined GPU Grid.

So basically I got soo addicted to distributed computing, that I lost touch with H2O for the sheer fact that for the cost of H20 I could build another dedicated cruncher. So I basically spent all my extra cash on new machines. As of the past couple of weeks I was running 6 I7 920's, 1 X3440, 11 GTX 275's and 1 GTX 260-216.

We got out utility bill this past month and my wife freaked out. Granted it was only $400 and there was a crazy $100 markup on electric becaue we are starting to have a shortage or something.
So In the past couple of weeks; I sold 7 of my GTX 275's 2 of my 920's and the mobo for my X3440 to help pay bills and cut back on monthly costs.
To go with all of this as of a couple weeks ago I got a temporary paycut because of some issues with the company I work for. However I am now officially done paying Child support to my oldest son, but that money will go to help pay off my truck, then move on to other big debts.

But I Still have my hobby of computers. I recently saw the latest test results for the current waterblocks...then saw the new Koolance CPU-360:biggrin:

I have not seen any actual comparisons on the 360, but hear uts definately better than the 350. I love the looks of it and could not resist, so I ordered one. So now Im in for the long haul.

Now I think I will probably stick to my previous decision on the other parts, unless rads, pumps etc have changed as well.
I was either going to go with a TFC or XSPC rad, I will go with either a double or triple, not sure as I do not want to spend a grip on a new case.
Last time I was here I was thinking Mountain Mod, but I am thinking about the $100 range; mainly either the Lancool K62 or possibly coolermaster Cm690 II adv. I like both of them, but I think I like the Lian Li a little more. However I am contemplating running a dual cpu rig this year after the new cpu,s and evga mobo arrive. Possibly way to expensive, but this would require a rather large case and the K62 or CM would not be good enough for a board like that.

I now have some planning to do, and parts to get. I know I was originally talking about a MCP355 along with XSPC restop, but have you seen
iandh's new reservoir..it is sweet

anyway, sorry to bore you guys; any updates on newer products would be greatly appreciated.

oh, also on rads, is there any set stone about 140mm rads? I think they will become more popular this year and current selection is slim, not sure if its worth it, or if a 120mm rad will work too well on the newer cases with 140mm fans? I am sure something could alwasy be modded, just wanted your thoughts.

Thanks

u see why i turned seasonal now.

LOL.. summer = AC > crunching.
Winter = Partial Crunching because they double as heaters.

Spring = Massive gaming time.. so they dont play well with wcg.

But yeah... at my peak i had 4 quad cores + 2 dualcores + 1 full blown server in my farm.

400 dollars would of been still in the green zone, i was peaking at over 600. :X
