As for temp monitors, I don't use anything but real temp. I probably should but McD's doesn't sell em. ;)

Thanks Gillbot. I have seen the Scythe one and was hoping you might recommend that one, lol. will have to see what other ones may be available as well.

I kind of like the digital ones; that way I can get a rough idea of the rpms for the fans, but not neccessary

I like the Kaze but i'd never use it myself. The cost for the extra looks isn't worth it to me. Personally, I use the Sunbeam Rheobus or an old Vantec Nexus NXP-205-BK.

LOL, does the Kaze not fit the buffet budget?

I will see what other ones are available before final decision.

Also what kind of sensor do you use within your water loops and where do you put it? I think I have seen Aigo say that he puts one after the rad and before the cpu block, but I could be mistaken.

I think I am going to try and order a few items this weekend before I lose it and jump on that I7 920 deal, lol
However I am getting really good temps with my Vendetta2. This will still make for a good project plus it will be something new and different.

Thanks for all your help so far as to everyone else that has given me input.

yeah man, no need for sensors, why worry about the water temp when it's the CPU temp that matters, just stick a thermometer in your computer room

I was was also wondering the same thing, whether a temp sensor was required and I came to the same conclusion as BTRY.

Just out of interest, why do you need to monitor the water temp, when it's the temp of whatever you are coooling which is important?

I guess thats a good point. I just recall that I thought people were using sensors to monitor water temps. I guess its not needed and your right; cpu temp would be mor critical.maybe for comparison or just to see what the water temp is compared to cpu temp.
Kind of like knowing what your ambient temp is compared to cpu temp; being that the water will in a sense be the abient temp or see if its running around ambient.

Ok so nix the sensor and just monitor cpu itself. good points fellas.

Maybe I just wanted to make small talk j/k.

monitoring water temp is what i call the true messurement.

Because you know if something is working in your system or not.

If you notice your water temp is ambient and your comp is on, it could mean pump failure or excessive radiator. Most likely pump failure.

Also if your water temp is too high, it could mean stressed radiator. :p

10? I dont understand; bought 32 of them, lol $2 & change ea:laugh::thumbsup::p:shocked:

Also awaiting Aigos word on rad. I think the new XSPC rads might be the way to go! the single 120 RX series rad is on par with Feser but for $50 less:)

Oh crap; need more sleep; only got about 3 hrs.

Wanted to know if there is any difference between Acrylic & Acetal topps on blocks? I like the Acrylic tops, but was wondering If I should ever be concerned of it breaking as I would assume that there would be no issues with acetal?

AIGO- is this a Koolance 5 way block; also do you have a drain line with female fitting or do you just push a piece of tubing on the male quick release. http://i125.photobucket.com/al...aigomorla/IMG_1153.jpg

now that I think about it; being quick release you probably need female fitting.
I am getting ready to order my K-350 probably acrylic (Like the looks), but want to make sure I do not need anything else from them.

but I really like the quick disconnects; was looking to see if there was a way to use them but have them mounted through the bottom of a case; just dont know how I would make sure it sealsbetween dist block and case.

Maybe should just look at a ball valve and fitting through case. hmm....

also founf a guy selling a new feser 480; he wants $125 plus shipping. going to see what his lowest price is; may buy it and figure out a way to utilize it

2. Found some Digital LCD's made by Matrix orbital or something like that (not exactly sure how they work and what all they can do, but man do they look sweet) I think Aigo has one will post a link; they have many different variations though
http://www.matrixorbital.com/

BTRY; glad to see you jumped in on the fans as well. wonder if Aigo got some or if he wants to test any?

They look good - cut a rectangular hole in the top panel or drive bay cover for the LCD and bolt it behind a 2mm perspex/acrylic window.

Thats the crappy thing. if someone buys them off of someone else; they will have to at least pay for the new shipping prices which makes them more expensive.

Gillbot; If you need a few lmk and we can work something out; I dont think I need 32 of them, lol. I got tracking this morning so I hope they are here by friday. course I will probably need to sign for them; so will have to wait till saturday.

Also does anyone know how those matrix orbital lcd panels work; I dont think they work like I want. Yes they will display anything you want through software, but I dont think you can hook sensors up to them directly. I think you would have to monitor temps or fan speeds from another source somehow and use the software to just display it on the lcd.
I think this is just for bling factor and I am sure Aigo has one.

will do more research; have other priorities first.

wow my thread is getting lost, lol

latest update:

Got 920 (B batch from Microcenter $229 deal)

Have Foxconn Bloodrage (Will be here mon)

Just ordered SuperTalent 3x2gb 1600 from ewiz $110 shipped (best deal couldnt pass it up while I wait for better ram to drop in price or become available)

Have San Ace fans; need to test w/controller

Traded some aces will Gillbot for some loons and controller. (want to compare with san ace fans.

as for H2o and case; currently awaiting funds since someone convinced me to go I7 after I sold my 9450 system.

Logically I should probably get a case first, but dont mind a desk/bench h2o setup for now.

H20: Koolance 350
Feser 360/480 depending on case
Swiftech 355 pump w/res top
BitsPower barbs/fittings
7/16id 5/8 od tubing (probably masterkleer)
Misc fittings will be koolance or BitsPower

I think thats all I know atm

Wow, that RAM is cheap. What made you go for the Foxconn Bloodrage, instead of something like the Asus Rampage 2 Extreme?

BTRY, I thought your rig was built and working.

I sold my DDR3 1600 for 2000 and these sticks don't operate at 1800 without errors using Memtest86+ ... test 5 64 block moves fails... I can run them at 1:1 5.5.5.15 but not 1:2 9.9.9.24 Initially I was using a DDR2 board, my Asus P5Q Premium but faulty vcore voltage readings from HWmonitor lead me to believe the board was bad so I opted not to sell this board and use it with my DDR3 1600...(I also bought 2 new Enermax Revolution 950's out of it - 1 for my i7 build and 1 for this but shhhh don't' tell anyone) It wasn't the board; the board replacement will be here on Wed. the 28th so from there I'll be making another decision as this DDR3 2000 has a full refund RMA shipping label already in motion. So, I may after all sell this board and get a DDR2 platform or I may try different ram. My thoughts are now again back to the DDR2 DDR3 debate of which is better for gaming of that 1% difference (but I don't call myself a hardcore gamer - lol)

You've bought as many superfluous parts as I have.

  1. 1x additional case (although the old rig was re-built inside this case, so at least it is being used).
1x 2x1Gb 1333MHz OCZ DDR3 Gold Edition RAM. I bought this whilst I was on holday in Australia (impulse buy). One stick had something like 86million errors in Memtest ran over 5 hours. The other stick also had errors, but not as many.
1x GA-X48T-DQ6 MB (no longer required if I'm going I7)
1x 2x2Gb 1800MHz OCZ DDR3 Platinum Edition RAM (to replace the 2x1Gb sticks. No longer required if I'm going I7)
    1x QX9770 (which I killed)

With regard to the DDR2 / DDR3 debate, I would go with the DDR2 option. The RAM is dirt cheap and the MBs are generally cheaper as well. Thats the mistake I made.
