I was told by Gateway not to use other video drivers for my Voodoo3. I would like to be able to use a program like NVmax but for my Voodoo. Also do you think other newer drivers can work for Voodoos that come with Gateway systems? They said there drivers are made for the Voodoo's that come with their systems. I just want to OC it a bit and turn off some things to help the FPS in CS.

Also in Counterstrike do any of you know of console commands to help FPS out?

You have nothing to lose but your time :)

If for some odd reason different drivers did not work then it will still work with default VGA drivers so you can reinstall the originals.

I found a program to OC my Voodoo3. I OC'd it from 166mhz to 198mhz with only the stock heatsink. No artifacts in CounterStrike what so ever.

Now every time I check the website for the Gateway drivers for this Voodoo3 they never have any updates. Can new versions of Drivers actually increase FPS? My drivers are from 1999.

Newer drivers can increase FPS when the chip is relatively new but Voodoo had been around awhile by then so I would only expect fixes. Only graphics companies develop drivers. When PC or board makers release branded driver packages they only do so for convenience to their customers -sometimes they will certify stability with the intended system (probably in the case of Gateway) but usually just slap on some logos or add some other bloatware to them. You are usually best using the chip make'rs drivers, especially when they are Microsoft certified for Windows. I'm sure the overclocking has done more than any drivers could so if it is working without problems stick with what you have. If you are desperate to eek out any more then check out those Nohr linked.
