Want to try a linux live cd to see if I like it

I see I can get these from online for a couple buck apiece since I have dialup that is the best option for me.

the first generation pentium I want to play with it on though has no option in bios for booting from CD. Is there an easy way around this. So I can run the live cd?
thx

Yes. Try putting a boot loader like SYSLINUX onto a floppy or using a program like loadlin from DOS. It might require a bit of fooling around, but it should work.

And for an old computer, use Damn Small Linux.

If you are on dial up you can order a free LiveCD from Ubuntu here. They even pay for shipping 🙂.

I am sure you can use a floppy to boot and install from CD then. I am not sure about LiveCD, though.

I'm a big fan of Damn Small Linux...even on my 1.5Ghz laptop. 🙂

Puppy Linux is nice as well for older systems.

An original pentium isn't going to be a good way to determine if you like Linux or not. Use it on a better system.
