Hi friends

I am zero in networking and i have below issue

Want to take net connection from one room to another.A|B|C|D..

A is room where at present i have net connection proived by mtnl.its adsl modem provided from them only and is not wifi enabled. My modem is kept in wodeen cabinet with my PC and internet is provided through telephone line

D is the room where i want internet connection .It distance from A might be 20-30 feets.(B and C are rooms beloging to some body else). Also it has walls in bettwen rooms

I am ruling out wifi as is sinal wont be strong at D.So only option i have is to take wired coonection.

I have read about ethernet over power line and MoCA but ethernet over power line i guess wont work as we dont have any direct power wire connection between A and D.

I didnt get what is MoCA and supposed i cant even use that.

Please suggest a way out.

Also at point D i want internet connection to be wifi+wired as other wifi enabled device might be used to coonected.

So plz tell me who can i make wifi at point D .Please suggest equipments required and of which company to buy from and pssoble step step how to connect

Regards

How do you know it won't work for wifi? What is the building construction? 20-30ft is not that far. I can get around 2.5MB/sec over a distance of 45ft, through 3 walls and a 4ft thick masonry fireplace with a steel pellet stove insert.

Maybe that ADSL connection is faster than I think it is, but I'd think 20-30ft and only 3 walls is nothing in comparison.

You could always do wifi and change the antennas to panel directional antennas to increase the signal strength significantly.

MoCA is effectively "ethernet over coax", IE what you'd have for cable TV.

I assume this is the same building, which means that I'd also assume it is all on the same transformer, thus you CAN use powerline between the rooms. You don't even have to be on the same circuit breakers. That said, things like being on the same electrical circuit, or at least the same panel does help out with performance, but it isn't necessary for it to at least work.

My rooms are adjoining rooms...

second thing is modem is within wooden cabinet and internet is provided through telephone box which is kept in another cabinet kept above my PC wooden cabinet. Also spliiter is with Telephone line itself...

For wifif to work effectiviley i have to take out modem which is not effectivley possible

henec eas looking for other options...

It looks to me power line is also not possible

But how to coonect a cable wire to an adsl modem box ?????

Wood really doesn't interfere with a wifi signal much, if at all that I've noticed. I have setup my parent's Roku and it's inside a heavy oak cabinet (this is solid oak, custom made not store bought) and it's able to pull in a wifi signal from a router that's down in the basement. It streams HD video from HBO, Netflix, Amazon and Showtime without any issue. If anything their wifi signal has to go through more than what yours potentially has to go through.

I would suggest getting a dual band 802.11n (or 802.11ac if you have the budget) wifi router, hook that into the adsl modem and you should be able to communicate with the computer in the other room without issue.

If you cannot use Ethernet, WiFi or Powerline Adapter, then go for a separate Internet connection line for your other room.
