Hey all,
Ok, so we were thinking we could do without a TV, and we did do without one...for about 12 hours. So now I am trying to find an alternative to actually purchasing a new set and I figured setting up my laptop to do this would be the easiest and most economical way to go about this.
I currently have a Dell Inspiron 6000 without a tuner card. So as I see it I have the following options available to me:
1. Buy a tuner card for my laptop, then just plug it directly into the wall and watch TV that way.
2. Buy a tuner card for my desktop and then setup some sort of network to have it play on my laptop.
3. Buy a tuner card for my laptop and have some sort of router setup so I can watch TV on the laptop anywhere in the house.
Does anyone have any recommendations on any of this? I am not sure how easy it is to put a tuner card in my laptop, but it seems like it would be ok.
It would be very easy to put one in my desktop, but that is more my gaming computer which I will be upgrading with even more power soon, so not sure how good it is to have it running all the time, sucking all of that juice.
I read a bit of the information out there, but I am still a little unclear how best to achieve this.
Thanks so much for reading and for any help provided!!
Cheers,
KT
