Link - Gamestop announced last week that they had 'exclusive' access to the Killzone 2 Demo. Sony confirmed with Joystiq today that that means the only way you can play the demo prior to launch is to pre-order it through Gamestop.

The demo will be available to everyone via PSN after the game is released on Feb 27th.

Kinda defeats the purpose of a demo, doesn't it? Guess I'll be waiting until after the game launches to see if it's worth buying.

Agreed, but sadly I think it's still going to get a lot of people to preorder the game so they can play the demo. Mostly fanboys I suppose, but still.

That is utterly retarded...

That's like saying "if you want to test drive a car you have to buy it first." Something like that happened to us once, we were in the market for a Subaru Impreza WRX and the local dealer said they wanted some sort of "monetary commitment" before they'd let us drive it...

Yes. But at least you can switch the pre-order to something else if you end up not liking the demo, and this is one case where I wouldn't feel bad doing that.

Also, something that the article doesn't mention is that if you preorder in-store, you should get access to the demo this week.

Store Customers: A rave card granting access to the Killzone 2 Demo will be available in stores while supplies last beginning the week of January 5. Check with your local store for more information.

Still lame, but plenty of time to try it out and cancel if need be.

Just pre-order the game, download the demo, and cancel your pre-order. Easy.

no it's not.

it's like putting down a deposit of 8% to test drive a car, then if you decide you don't like the car, you get your deposit back, otherwise you use the deposit towards the total price of the car.

I think it is a good thing they bumped it to Feb. Now it will probably come in 2nd for the month to SF4. It looks great but I don't think that it is gonna sell amazingly.
