Want to play games on the couch, there a decent, cheap laptop for it?

I have a main rig in the other room. P4 2.8, 1GB PC3200, 6800, 30" LCD monitor, Z560s.

But to play in there I have to sit behind the desk and don't feel like I get much done. Like I can't fire up a quick game of something and play a couple of rounds.

I would like to replace my current laptop with something that could run Battlefield 2 with medium to low settings and low resolution. The laptop I have now is a Dell Latitude C500. P3 500, 1" thick and about 5 lbs. I kinda like the size...

To get any sort of lite gaming laptop, is it going to have to be huge? The only thing I've found is a Dell 9300 with a Geforce 6800, but the thing is huge...and expensive.

There any alternatives out there? I was looking at a 6000, but it has a X300 and is about the same price as the 9300 and not that much smaller. The 9300 would run about $1100, would like to stay around $1000. Am I just asking for too much?

I'm looking for something similar.

I think, if you wait for the next $750 off $1500 Dell Coupon you can easily get in your $1,000 price range.

The Latitude D610 is a pretty light 14" laptop that you can get with a Radeon X300. The X300 isn't all that great, but it should be fine for 1024x768 without the settings too high. I can't think of anything else that size in that price range without integrated graphics.

To me this just doesn't sound like a good idea. The whole "laptop gaming" thing to me is silly, especially if you already have a nice desktop platform. There are some games that aren't too taxing on hardware and can be enjoyed on the go. Battlefield 2 doesn't strike me as one of those games. It's not easy to plop down on a couch with your laptop plus a mouse and mousepad. If you plan to play at a home or work desk, you've defeated the purpose gaming on a laptop, anyway.

So I guess my question is, where will you be using this laptop?

You're only route other than the mediocore x300 seems to be big, bulky, and expensive. Personally, I'd keep the working laptop and the gaming desktop seperate.
