Want to learn some rudimentary Arabic -- any recommendations on software?

I was looking at Borders today and wanted to do some research on books or programs (software preferred for audio pronounciation) for learning basic Arabic. Anybody have recent experience with the different companies out there?

I have access, probably, to Rosetta Stone, but I'm not sure it's what I want. I have tried it previously with Polish, and it worked well but was slow going. I need something that I can tailor my learning to specific areas and that I can move quickly (prior to January).

Thanks.

Language is not an easy thing to learn classrooms and immersion really only way but costco sells a arabic dvd kit.

No Costco in the area, only Sam's. I wouldn't trust a language learning program from Sam's, either. 🙂

only 4 words you need to know, Dirka, Allah, Jihad and Mohammed

That's probably 3 more words than our soldiers in Iraq know.

That could explain why they're getting their 2000th casket instead of flowers from Iraqi's.

Keep your ignorant BS out of my thread. Exactly how many OIF vets have you talked to recently?
