I am not sure if I should hold out til end of May for the 3.06 P4's to drop in price.
I am considering getting the 2.8 thats around $320 now. Any comments on this choice?

Also, I am looking at buying a Gigabyte 8INXP motherboard.

Any input would be GREATLY appreciated.

PS. I hear the 3.06 is 40% faster than the 2.8, but only in applications that support hyperthreading....true?

40% would be extreme with apps that were extremely optimised for such a thing....2.8 vs 3.06ghz represents a 9.2% increase in clock speed so that would be 30% on the HT and I have to admit I haven't seen that high in any testing I saw and is definitely not the norm in most test...

I would tend not to belive it or figure not the norm....MOre like 20-30% w/ included 9.2% gain in clockspeed...

if you are thinking of experimenting with ocing, maybe see if you can get your hands on one of them 2.4b multiple vid ones (ive herad taht fry's carrys them at times)

otherwise i think intel is still planning on coming out with lower model cpu's with HT support arent they?
