Want to have a fast bootup. Something with Raid?

I went to best buy today, looking for a 10,000RPM hard drive in hopes for a faster bootup and system preformance. However, the guy was some huge PC guru and said it wasn't worth spending the 200+ dollars on the only Rapter HDD they had. He told me to buy a new 7200RPM HDD and set the raid/array to something.. he said system bootup time could be insanely decreased if I used this setting.

I currently have a 300GB hard drive (1/2 full) and it takes around 3-5 minutes to finally load. I want a smaller HDD for my 2-3 major games and my OS. Using my 300GB hard drive for less demanding games and data storage.

I looked up some information on raid, and become so lost. What can I do with a new hard drive to make it load the OS "insanely fast" as the best buy guy said?

The guy at BB was probably referring to Raid 0 which uses two identical drives and puts chunks of data on each drive speeding things up because two drives are accessing the data not one. However Raid 0 has no redundancy so if one drive fails all of your data is gone and IIRC the speed boost isn't as much as the BB guy led you to believe.
