Want to get a rice cooker at Walmart.

It looks like Rival is the big brand. Rival makes the classic Crock Pot. Is this brand OK?

i'll reply to this when i get home...the one i have is one you dont want cause the rice sticks to it real bad

If you're buying it at walmart, your choices aren't good vs. bad. It's more like "bad for $20 or bad for $30?" I hope you find one that actually works.

From someone who has never owned a rice cooker before, what are the advantages of using one instead of cooking rice the old fashion way? And How much rice do you need to eat for something like this to be worthwhile?

I would recommend mine but right now all I can remember is that theres an elephant logo on it.

EDIT: Zojirushi or Sunpentown are the ones I've had. Both great

elephant logo = zojirushi

Aren't all Wal-mart/Target rice cookers (or any other small appliances) made in the same factory in China anyway? So what's the difference, really?

What's the difference between making rice in a "rice cooker" and making rice in a pot and pan?
Much easier. Also, depending on your skill, more consistent.

Yeah, a few people seem to dislike the burnt rice at the bottom that's from cheaper rice cookers. I for one enjoy it. It's like a fun little snack.
