I've been thinking about upgrading to a GTX 780 ti and selling my GTX 680 shortly after GTX 780 ti releases or getting a 2nd GTX 680 4GB for SLI and I think I will go with a 2nd GTX 680 instead for SLI. Is buying a refurbished GTX 680 4GB for $380 a good price? Used ones are going for around that price as well. I just can't find any brand new ones, I only found 1 refurbished and the rest I can only find used ones. Is $380 still a good price for a refurbed 4GB GTX 680? If I sell my GTX 680 and buy the GTX 780 ti, I'd still be spending about the same amount of money in the end assuming the GTX 780 ti will be $700 but then I will also get 3 free games if I don't buy it too late, 2 of thos games which I'm going to purchase anyways if I don't buy the GTX 780 ti. I assume the upcoming GTX 780 ti will also have the 3 free game bundle like the GTX 780's have?

I"m looking for the EVGA model number 04G-P4-2686-KR specifically as that's what I'm using right now.

$380 is not a good price at all.Sell your 680 and grab a 780/780Ti instead.

You're in a tough spot. New 770 4GB and the R290 can be had for the same price. But if you get a second 680 4GB, it will no doubt be faster than any single card you can buy, and should hold up for awhile. You might be able to get a better deal on a used 680 after tomorrow when people start to upgrade to the 780ti. I was in the same boat, but worse cause in a way I have the 680 2GB. I decided to get another 680, then reevaluate when the 780ti 6GB is available. I have very little self control, but in your case I would wait and see if the 680 4GB prices drop to 300ish.

$380 for a refurbished 680 is outrageous.

In that case if people are buying them at these prices, take advanage of it and sell the 680 for $350. Then get a $515 MSI Lightning 780 or wait for after-market R9 290s. I wouldn't buy a GTX780Ti for $700 since it will not be more than 15-20% faster than MSI Lightning 780 and it will get embarrassed by $800 R9 290s. 2nd 680 and 780Ti both sound like poor purchases among after-market 780 and R9 290s. Since R9 280X and GTX770 beat 680 and are at $300-320 price, a used 680 should not be more than $250.

I have been pondering this for weeks. 680 SLI is plenty of performance(+ 4GB), but everyone wants $350'ish for them, USED. That's outrageous being you can get a NEW 290 for $400. I would not buy a 2nd 680 until they come down to $250'ish. They should come down as these better cards become more plentiful. Just make sure you have enough psu.

I actually have 3 gaming machines in the house, myself and both my sons. I am gong to hang on to the 4gb GTX 680 for now, but I ordered a 290($400) + Gelid cooler($50) to try out until they come down. Being BF4 will be a main game for us, I think it would be a good test when Mantel is released. The cooler should resolve noise and heat issues. Our cases are higher end & well ventilated.

I guess what I am getting at is, for $450 new(w/cooler), instead f $350 used seemed like a better deal to me. I still have my gtx 680 4gb to SLI if they get cheaper for one machine, or keep it to pass down and upgrade the weakest machine as a single card.

Get the 780 Ti or the R9 290. The power of 680 SLI is going to be bottlenecked by only having 2GB to work with in the future.

I already have 680's SLI, 2gb though. If I was you, I'd sell the 680 while you can for the $320-$380 and buy a 780ti. Overclocked it is very close to stock 680's SLI.

I agree with the general consensus, and you want to step off 2GB before next-gen console ports hit.

Hes got a 4GB card guys, that's why its so expensive. I sold the 2GB version of this card for $330 about a month ago. Well worth it for me :) Unfortunately there really aren't many 4GB cards out there. So lack of supply are going to keep the prices up even in the used market.

was pricing out used 680 4GB on ebay just today. considering selling my 3.

4GB edition. going rate is $350.
2GB edition. going rate is $300.

$380 for 4GB factory refurbish sound about right.

Yeah, now is a good time to sell if you want to get the most for your 680's. Some people want to keep up with the latest stuff, selling now and reinvesting in the newer stuff is definitely not a bad idea.

If the OP is looking for simplicity, just spending $350 or less on a matching 4GB card would give him more frame rates that the 780Ti. Assuming the rest of his rig is up to the task. He could avoid the hassle of selling his card, plus avoid possible Paypal/Ebay fees.
