Use a boot disk, at the a prompt, type in format c: /u this is an unconditional format. If you need a boot disk LMK, and I will email you a batch file that will build one for you.

MS has a TechNet document with instuctions on how to revert back to Win98. I READ it, but am NOT about to attempt what they suggest, and wouldn't recommend anyone else try it either. The best thing to do, as much as it sucks, is to do a complete reinstall. I'm not sure where I found it exactly, but go to MS TechNet

Side note...
A friend of mine upgraded from Win98 to Win2k and has had no problems whatsoever. But I've had several minor glitches. So what I did was add Win98 back to my system. If you want to try this, boot to your Win98 startup disk and go to a DOS prompt. Type 'setup /ntldr' and Win98 will install and modify the Win2k bootloader to dual-boot. However, I see this as a temporary fix and I plan to do a complete reinstall of Win2k when I upgrade my system in a month or so.

1. Boot into Win98
2. Delete WINNT Folder and all Win2K related folders
3. Go to your boot partition (usually c:), Locate and delete: ntldr, ntbootdd.sys, ntdetect.com, boot.ini, and pagefile.sys.
4. reboot your computer and boot up with a win98 bootup disk
5. boot into command prompt and type: fdisk /mbr
6. Reboot and you're done.

If you'd like to do it the easy way, you can always clean off the Win2K partition by formatting or Fdisking it.
