I've seen this done on other forums and wanted to throw the suggestion out there...

Breaking out the WTB threads from the FS/FT forum into their own forum... Sometimes helps with the clutter...

I wonder if it would be difficult to prune all those threads to get it started though.... There is a sizable # of WTB's

A grace period should be sufficient for members to move their goods into the right forum. It wouldn't do any harm for some wtb to remain in the current fs/ft forum during a transition would it?

Probably not, bump!!

kk ... will run it by the mods and other admins. it might lighten the load of fs/t, but you guys don't think it would be spreading things too thin?

really we are concerned with that even if it seems like we've just exploded everything all over the place 🙂

I think it would be a good thing as fast / busy the FS / FT / WTB is now.

EDIT :

As far as transitioning WTB threads, make a sticky for bit and it should not be a major issue,it is easy enough to edit one and make a new WTB in the new forum.

Well, the issue i've had is when I search in a forum for things i want to buy, it returns a list of not only people selling what I want, but also people looking to buy the same thing.

By separating them out, when you search in FS/FT it only pulls people selling the item. If you have some things to sell, a quick search in WTB helps find what your looking for.

I think the division works if well executed. Nikonians has a similar setup and it works very well for organizational purposes.

FS/FT is so heavily congested now that if you put something up, 15mins later, it's buried within pages and pages.

A WTB forum may not be as heavily trafficked as a FS/FT forum, but i think there'll still be a good amount of usage.

Or keep the current FS/FT solely computer hardware/software, and make an 'Other' category for everything else.

I'd also like to see a WTB forum, nothing is more annoying than searching for something you want to buy (like a 300GB hard drive) and finding a bunch of WTB threads come up.

To avoid clutter, get rid of the Free stuff category and merge it in with Hot Deals. This way it doesn't spread too thinly.
