want to buy a good vocal mic

looking for the best vocal mic i can get for around $200 for recording some songs

i need at least one of the following four recommendations:

1. a good forum to go to that talks about this kind of stuff
2. a good website to go to to do my own research (wow that's a lot of to's)
3. a recommendation on a good mic
4. a website where i can buy a good mic at internet prices instead of retail prices

How about a Shure SM57 or SM58? They're kind of an industry standard... not super high-end, but I would think they'd do the trick. You should be able to find one for $100 or less.

If youre looking for recording, yeah sm58 could do the trick. Also check out the various mics from Studio Projects. Phenomenal sounding mics for the price.

SM-58, or the SM-58c (not sure about the "c" thing, but it's the condenser version, and it's maybe $50 more). There's a standard mid-point between an SM-58 and Thingamajig U-48 or whatever the standard higher end one is.
