Want to buy: 1 TB External Portable HD with FireWire 800 plug

I'm looking to get a portable external HD at 1 TB size, that has a FireWire 800 plug (and a USB plug too).

It seems HD prices are rising right now.. So maybe not a great time to buy. Black Friday is coming up pretty soon, so are the holidays.

Any recommendations on what to buy and when and where to buy it? I currently own two Western Digital HD's and have had no problems with them.

Buy an external enclosure at Newegg with the connection options you require.
Add a 1TB HD of your choice. WD Black or a Samsung F3R.

definitely the best way to go, and there's a 20% discount going on right now!! for Black November or something...

i thought about the internal with closure idea... but the cheapest 2.5" internal HD that is 1 TB is 169.99. External enclosure is roughly $20. So that's $189... a savings of $10. A WD 1 TB external HD with firewire 400 and 800 and USB is $199.

Unless someone knows of a sale or some cheaper prices... i feel like the $199 1 TB case might have to be the way I go:

So you want 2.5"? You probably should mention that in the OP, most people will naturally assume 3.5".

I think so. I want it to be portable. I mean, 3.5 Still is but from my understanding all 3.5" are not shock-resistant. Which worries me a little.

And, most 3.5 external enclosures require a separate power brick. If you want portable, 2.5-in is the best way.
