Want to build HTPC (DVR)

I'll start with what I have equipment-wise.

Westinghouse 32" HD "Ready" TV
DishNetwork 811 Receiver: Connected to TV via Component HD cables
Samsung DVD: Connected to TV via HDMI out to DVI (not sure if this matters)

Now that I have some HD channels I'd like to build a HTPC that operates as a DVR so I can watch/save TV-shows. I've done some research but I'll a little confused as to what I'll need when it comes to hardware/software.

What I think I'll do is connect the HTPC via DVI to the DVI on the 811 Receiver.

1. Do I need a TV-tuner card for the HTPC if I have a Satallite HD Receiver?
2. Can you watch TV and record to the HTPC at the same time?
3. What software do you use to record TV on the HTPC?
4. How much would a typical HD 1-hour long show take up in disk space?

Thanks for your help!
