Build suggestions anybody? I am just trying to get a box that essentially is a storage center for my MP3s and stuff... I have a domain in my house and everybody automatically maps to a server I have, but I want to put it in a rack I got from work... so I need the rack case, the motherboard that will fit in it, and processor, power supply etc. Right now my Windows 2003 box is running off of a Athlon XP 1400, with 1GB of ram. Seems to do just fine too... so I don't need anything hefty.

Also, I want to have a reasonable storage setup for this... I was thinking of getting a REALLY cheap RAID card (some VIA one for like $20) and two SATA drives with mirroring so that everything is backed up... not 100% sure it's the best way to go.

I am looking for cheap and reliable. I don't care much about expandability.. I probably won't need more than 500GB ever... so let me know your suggestions from top to bottom :) Again, cheap and reliable folks! Don't need a speed demon of a system :)

most rack mounts cases use standard atx form factor mobos, and 2U and bigger cases can use standard atx PSUs, so all you really need is any 2U case and use all your current stuff. 1U cases come with their own propietary PSU, so go witn 2U or bigger and use your own.

Just transplat the guts of that windows 2003 box into a 2U case and there ya go..

I like the cheap raid mirror idea. probably your best bet for cheap insurance.

to be safe get a 3U case, not 2U, they are more like a regular case size wise and will better fit everything.. check this 3U case out and youll see what I mean.
