The job searches aren't working. Keep getting 404 errors after hitting the search.

Edit-wrong error, they're actually http 500 errors

Air Marshal? Bah!

Just let me bring my own gun... Only allow the use of 1.5 grain hollowpoints which will NOT go through the airframe and depressurize the aircraft.

Barring that, give the pilots guns... There is a bill in Congress right now trying to do just that...

I was listening to an interview on the radio the other morning. They were interviewing a pilot who said he wanted nothing to do with carrying a gun on flights and said a majority of his co-workers felt the same. They want more Air Marshalls.
Hell, I've got a degree in Criminal Justice. I wonder if they could pay me the same thing I'm making now as a programmer?

I'm all for the hiring of undercover Air Marshalls, but I think their posting is a little misleading. Especially after the last 8 days.

The FAA operates the world's biggest and safest aviation system. We are responsible for the safety and certification of aircraft and pilots, for the security of our airports, and for the around-the-clock operation of our nation's air traffic control system.

I'm sure the passengers and family of the 4 crashed flights might not agree with the above...

The one thing that has always confused and interested me in government jobs is this seemingly universal requirement:

<< OR Completion of all requirements for a bachelor's degree in any field. >>

Its seems every job requires just this. I mean, what if you majored in Ethnic Studies, or something stupid like that? How would it make you qualified to be an air marshal?

Expecially with the FBI, they require accounting. Please, enlighten me, how how would an accounting degree help you one bit in the FBI? I could just be completley dense here and not be seeing the practicality, but I'm just not making the connection between the FBI and accounting.

It doesn't, it only qualifies you for consideration. They will provide the necessary law enforcement training. They want reasonably educated personnel to start with.

The FBI performs TONS of investigative work involving bank receipts, corporate and private financial records, tax records, etc. I presume they would like people who know what they're looking at.

Where are you getting that the FBI requires an accounting degree? You can have any degree and be considered, accounting is just one of them. They have different programs.

From the FBI site

<<

Applicants must possess a four-year degree from a college or university accredited by one of the regional or national institutional associations recognized by the United States Secretary of Education.

There are four entry programs: Law, Accounting, Language, and Diversified.

Law: To qualify under the Law Program, you must have a JD degree from a resident law school.
Accounting: Any applicant who wishes to be considered for the Accounting Program may qualify when he/she either:
A) Has been certified as a CPA; OR
B) Possesses a four year business degree with a major in accounting, or related business degree that included or was supplemented by 24 hours of accounting courses and an additional six semester hours of business law or other elective business courses, and two years of progressively responsible accounting work in a professional accounting firm or comparable public setting, such as a state comptroller or the General Accounting Office, the last which would be in a management, team leader or other type of position which would provide experiences in a variety of areas (banking, insurance, problem solving, etc.) and allow for exposure and experiences dealing with higher level organizational entities, i.e., partners and directors.

Language: To qualify under the Language Program, you must have a BS or BA degree in any discipline and be proficient in a language that meets the needs of the FBI. Candidates will be expected to pass a Language Proficiency Test.
Diversified: To qualify under the Diversified Program, you must have a BS or BA degree in any discipline, plus three years of full-time work experience, or an advanced degree accompanied by two years of full-time work experience.
