Want to add USB 3.0

Yeah...was about to edit, just found it there as well as on Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/Oyen-Digital-E.../dp/B003EMGAKA The Amazon one is even cheaper, AND does not require molex power connector to it 🙂

Yes it does

Built-in 4-pin power connector for receiving extra power supply from system

But for $25 I would just upgrade my board, esp if the newwer one has a newwer chipset. I know there are plenty of boards for less than $100 with usb 3.0.

Oops...didn't see that about built in power connector. I know there are boards with USB 3 for under $100, but then I have to get new CPU, memory...re-install OS...a lot of work and I need to wait a while before I upgrade (again) 🙂

one can use a usb 2.0 extension cable and suffer no bandwidth loss? i dont want to use my thumb drive on the rear of the computer like that.

No.
USB 3.0 ports include extra electrical contacts in order to provide the extra speed. But: a USB 3.0 extension cable should work (if you can find one).
