want dma on my old toshiba 8x cdrom

hi,

i got my sys set up on the new dragon plus mobo, i use only the via ide controller (no raid).

In win98se, i cannot enable dma on this cd-rom anymore (i could on an ancient P166 system)....when i try to enable dma in win my sys freezes as soon as there is access to teh cd-rom (eg. My Computer..whatever)

At first i thought it's because i used a ata66/100 cable...but i put on an ata33 cable now...and still dma wont work...


any ideas ?
