Thanks for all of the assistance. I have decided to spend a little more and get a current AM2/AM2+ motherboard, memory and processor : Here is my question: I am upgrading part of my computer system, including the motherboard, but would like to keep my 2 IDE optical drives. I am intersted in upgrading to this mainboard: Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe GR Motherboard and want to know if I can keep both my IDE opticals with this board. The board specs says it has one IDE header. Does that mean it can only accept only 1 IDE optical drive? And then my other optical would have to be sata - or can one header accept 2 ide opticals? thanks!

One IDE connection can handle 2 devices. Remeber the ribon cable has 2 connectors on the end of it and you have to set the drives to master and slave.
