I have a P4 1.8 (not the a) 400mhz FSB, and I wanted to upgrade the processor. After some research:
If you have the 850 chipset, you can upgrade to a P4 2.6, 400mhz FSB. Just plug it in. If you have the 850E chipset, you can go to P4 2.8, 533mhz FSB, but you may need to upgrade the BIOS. Unfortunately, I have the 850, so I'm stuck with the 400mhz FSB (unless I want upgrade the motherboard). Anyway, I think I should see an improvement going from 1.8 to 2.6. Other features: 512 RDRAM, Radeon 9700 Pro., 80gig HD.
