The above is true, and before you know it you will get a least a warning of the moderators, if not worse.
Ive been warned twice thus far, and so i am now careful regrading the D3 Alpha. I try to warn people of it where i can, but most people just arnt bothered.
I suggest that you not tell ppl where to get the alpha. Or your life here as a AT Forum member could be very short.

BTY guys. The Alpha has been around longer than 3months, i`d say at least 10months, maybe even a year.

now if you were able to get the latest doom III build or the half life 2 e3 link, that would be a different story. BTW, i'm amazed this thread hasn't been killed yet.

Personally, im not impressed with the gfx in Doom3. If you look closely at screenshots and running demos of the games, you`ll notice that the texturing sucks, it relys to heavily on the various bump mapping techniques to look good. The lighting effects, while they are good are a bit OTT. They look no better than the ones in Splinter Cell, but require far more GPU/VPU power to pull them off.
HL2 looks good. The textures are pretty good, but imo, neither game can compete with DeusEx2. But thats just me.

All 3 games will have their merits.
Doom3 will be as scary as fcuk.
HL2, will be the definitive FPS.
DeusEx2, will be the best freeform game available, blending the FPS of HL with the versitility of the enviroments, and possibilites as...erm....Deus Ex!

In 640x480 high detail with 4xaa 16xaf, I get 60 fps almost everywhere. In 800x600 high detail with 4xaa 16xaf, I get like 60 in smaller rooms and 30 in big rooms. Totally smooth gameplay and I'm happy with it as it is, but it should work much better with the real thing.

Well if you want to compare... Look at Doom and Doom 64 on the Nintendo 64. Now that was the biggest improvement I had ever seen in a games graphics engine. (Mostly because the original Doom was just horrible). And I thought Doom 64 was the best looking graphical game out during that time but no one was buying it. I didn't see Doom 64 get any respect with its graphical improvements then , maybe except in a few Game Pro magazines, but why now?

Remember the first Doom game when the Zombie faces looked like they were melting at close range? Its laughable.

forget doom on nintendo 64, the real revolutionary game was mario 64 at that time. Man that game looked amazing! It was such as step above everything else available in 1996.

Without going off topic, the best game on N64 was Zelda:eek:OT. The best looking game, perfect dark or Zelda:MM
