Wanna switch to a smaller case than my Corsair 600T!

Hey all, while i love my Corsair 600T, the thing is simply too huge for my room! People comment that its the size of a bloody scooter! it is indeed too big to move around, and recently i've been moving around every 4-5 months for work and taking my desktop with me (can't stand working on a laptop! it kills my posture which leads to back & neck pain).

So, my new case has to be much smaller, yet big enough to take a 5870 size video card. i'm looking at the Corsair 550D, which comes highly recommended, but its just a little smaller than the 600T. Here are the specs:

Corsair 600T: 23.3" (L) x 20" (H) x 10.4" (W)
Corsair Obsidian 550D 20.9” x 19.5” x 8.7”

Any suggestions? Ideally it'd be the smallest ATX case that can take big video cards and a large size CPU cooler (TT Frio in my situation).

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

I like the 550d, looks like a great case with a lot of silencing options.

If you want something even smaller check out the Lian Li V700x:

It is an expensive case, being a Lian Li owner myself I don't think it's worth $240...I'd pay $150-$180 max. It's the smallest ATX form factor case from what I've read, (don't quote me on that). The case weighs only 13 lbs since it's made of aluminum!

interesting but that's out of my budget, i'd be willing to spend ~$180.

The 550d looks great but its really not that much smaller in dimensions than my 600t.P I like the dimensions of the Carbide 300r vs the others:

Corsair 600T: 23.3" (L) x 20" (H) x 10.4" (W)
Corsair Obsidian 550D 20.9” x 19.5” x 8.7”
Carbide 300R 19.1” x 17.7” x 8.3”

the only problem is the top of the Carbide 300r is mesh, so i can hear everything even when its closed!🙁 terrible decision on Corsair's part, don't understand why they'd do such a thing?

Ok, so any other recommendations for 1.)smallest ATX case that can fit a 5870, 2) reasonably quiet (ie no open mesh), 3) decent cooling, in that order would be fantastic!

If you can get some old Lian-Li PC-A05 stock (http://www.amazon.com/Lian-Li-Alumin...dp/B0014SPR5U/) that's floating around (or PC-A06 for that matter), those will probably be the only reasonably high-quality enclosures in that price bracket with a small foot print.

Alternatively, slightly larger, there's the Sharkoon Rebel 9 and the Lian-Li PC60 and PC-8 series.

Thanks for the advice, & the PC-A05 would've been perfect, but its been discontinued where i live. It's both small & quiet, & takes 5870 size vid cards.🙁 (I live in Seoul at the moment, so its a no go). I'd love to get the corsair 300R, but with the top of the case being mesh, any noise will be right in my face.🙁

Any other suggestions? small, takes 5870 size vid cards, and reasonably quiet (ie no open mesh parts like th 300R). Thanks!

Lian Li A55 would work, it should be available soon. No inverted ATX, but it has a ton of room due to its layout.

Wrong forum btw. This is the PSU forum.

Antec 302 is a nice case, not very costly and may not have the same "premium feel" to it as a 600T, but it's certainly compact for an ATX case.

Thanks for the input fellas, after looking at reviews and looking at specs, im gonna go with the Corsair 300R. I just realized that my 600T also mesh in the upper part of the case and its hardly noticeable. If worse comes to worse i'll just buy some of those silent case fans from Noctua or Antec.🙂 Cheers and thanks for your feedback!
