Wanna swap my dothan into a new 915 chipset for pin modding

I've got a laptop with a 855 chipset and a 400mhz fsb dothan. I want to try out the pin mod I've read about with the dothan to up the fsb to 533mhz; but I need a laptop with 915 chipset. I'd like to buy a new, cheap laptop with 915 and a celeron m. Then, I can swap the 2 cpu's. However, from what I can find, most of the Dell laptops with celeron m's use the 910 chipset. Does anyone know of any cheap (<$600), decent laptops that use the 915 chipset and comes with a celeron m?

I've found some ati cheap celeron laptops with ati xpress 200m chipset, which supports 533mhz ddr2, but only 400mhz ddr. So does this mean that it supports a pin mod on a 400mhz dothan to 533mhz?

I've been down the same path as you. You're right most low-end lappies only come with the older 855/910 chipsets. Both will only run 400 FSB. The cheapest 915 laptop you're going to find is probably the HP DV1000/Compaq V2000 laptops. Both are available with Celerons and they still come with 915 chipsets. The laptops like Toshiba's $400-$600 laptops with ATI 200 xpress are pin-moddable and will run @533mhz FSB. The ati integrated video is also better than intel's video. Main disadvantage with the ATI laptops is that the chipset seems to consume more power than Intel's chipsets. Also, the USB 2.0 speeds also aren't that great since they use the same ATI ICH as the desktop ATI boards.
