The danger in threating to go to someone's house and "beat the tar out of them" is that a lot of people in this country own guns.

Never bring a your fists or a knife to a gun fight...

Going over to someone's house to "beat the tar out of them" can be a really bad idea. They could shoot you and probably get away with it since you made a concerted effort to go visit them. Even if it is proven that you stole from them, you don't have the legal right to go beat them up. Assualt is a serious crime, petty theft is not.

No, someone posted his personal details on the forum and that seemed to have gotten his attention, so he made good on the deal...

I'll repeat my prior point... If someone steals a few hundred dollars from you, that does not give you the right to go over to their house and assualt them. The theft was a minor crime, the assualt is not, and they can shoot you in self-defense and it would be perfectly legal (the details vary from state to state).

In any case, even if you did beat the crap out of the guy, do you really want to spend a year in prison over it? (aggraviated assualt is a felony in every state)

This is why I don't buy/sell on-line.

A few weeks back, I bought a VisionTek Ti200 for $40..tough to beat that in stores.

i suppose if you don't consider extreme threats of beating and personal invitations to kick somebody's ass "out of the ordinary" from people who live no more than 20 miles from this guy, then i guess you didn't miss anything.

Jesus everyone in that thread was all talk. And I am missing what happened here? The deal turned out good in the end. I wanted to hear about some blood splattered on pavement and a busa accelerating fast from the scene.

This is a prime example on how to not go about getting your money or goods back from a Troll-.
Always let the authorities handle the situatiuon for you, NEVER go to someone's house and threaten them with physical violence.

You got it. Once a while back I did a deal with someone and they tried to screw me. They said the part was bad and I said send it back and I will refund you. He wanted his money first. I say no way. He said he would come to Michigan.. yep I am in Michigan... he said he would come to Michigan and beat my ass. I emailed my address and told him to bring it. Funny he never showed.
Never threaten anyone on the internet cuz that person may love a good throw now and then.
