Hey all,

i'm thinking about getting two NEC/Mitsubishi LCD1850's for my desktop pub stuff. i wanted to get a Geforce3, but i dunno if it supports two LCD. same is true for the ATI Radeon 8500. i actually saw a review/reply on Buycomp saying that the guy tried to do the same, but saw that you can only do 2 CRTs, or 1 CRT & 1 LCD, but NOT 2 LCD's. is there a way to do this???

I have a recommendation. I think you should install XP, or Win2k. Get an awesome video card, like a Geforce3, and then try to find a decent video card, like a Geforce2. Put the Geforce3 in the AGP slot, since you want better bandwitdh, and performance for game playing. Then put the Geforce2 in a PCI slot. That way, you'll be able to use your main LCD monitor for games, and everyday stuff, and the other one for 2D stuff.

I say you get a Geforce3, because a normal LCD monitor can only go up to 1028X780 if it's 15inch, or 1280X1024 if it's a 17inch. A Geforce3 should easily be suitable for low resolutions like that. And if you are looking for high res games, like 1600X1200, then you should get a Planar 19inch, that supports UXGA.

That's my 2 cents. Hope it helps.

if you want two LCD's the best card right now is the Gainward Geforce4. But you are limited to 1280x1024 on both. I have two Planar 17" monitors.

Matrox is good, but not worth the savings... they charge to much for the dual DVI version.
