Wanna know what a solar flare sounds like?

Nice! 😀

Yesterday I had a presentation about the Northern Light (Aurora Borealis) at my school.
Showed lot's of nice pics with nice solar flares..
Every newspaper talks about the activity of the sun lately..

Thanks for the link OD! 🙂

I'm still trying to figure out how sound can travel through a vaccum. If it does make a noise, it is only within the matter flow, so how do they know what it sounds like when sound can't travel through a vaccum?

Very cool OD, thanks.
Did anyone get a chance to see any of the auroral activity the last couple of nights? Wednesday night was cloudy here but we got some decent viewing last night for about an hour. We don't get many chances to see them at this latitude(42* N).

It was awesome in Rochester 2 nights ago. I think it's the first time I've ever seen the Northern Lights. It was absolutely spectacular! I hope a lot of people got to see it. 🙂

It was trick or treat night around here in most of the local towns so i bet here at least a large portion of people got to see them.
At the bottom of this page are 7 pics taken from within or near Erie Pa by some in our local astro club. The last one even has Mars & an Iridium flare in it.

I hated finding out about this the day afterwards. I was inside at Walmart, working. There were probably aurora outside then too. No idea it was going on. 🙁
The newspaper said there were aurora as far south as Texas.
