WAN Networking Problems...HELP!!

This is a repost from the Networking forum, but I got little response over there so I'm hoping you all can help me out.

I'm having some difficulties with a DSL wireless network I set up in my apartment for me and my two roommates. It's been working great for about a month now, but then all of the sudden they are getting very poor connection quality, having it drop to zero frequently. (i'm hooked in directly so my internet is fine). They are having poor connection quality and sometimes it will drop altogether. I tested the distance from the router and there was no difference whether it was right next to it or a floor down. My roommates are blaming it on the new z640 speaker system I bought which is near (12" away) the router. I told them the speakers are magnetically shielded, but it's like explaining parabolic functions to Chris Burke. I think it could be related to the 900 MHz cordless phone I have sitting near it too. Also maybe it could be the speakers are pulling power away from the router and that could cause it? I'm really looking for someone who knows about this type of thing.

Also, for some reason one roomie's laptop gets excellent quality signal, but can't connect because his LAN setup says "there's a network cable unplugged." Since there's no network cable needed for a WIRELESS network, this perplexes me deeply.

I have a U.S. Robotics Wireless Router Model 8011. My roomies have USR and D-Link wireless cards in laptops. I expect I would get better results from AT than USR's support so hopefully someone who is way smarter than me has a good idea about what my problem could be.

Thanks!

P.S. I did, as expected, get the canned reply from USR who picked out random keywords in my email and sent me a completely useless response.

UPDATE: I've found the solution to my problem. Apparently one of my neighbors has set up a WLAN too and the signals are crossing. I believe he's hacked my router by adding a pass to it too, but that's just conjecture. Anyone know how to reset the password on a USR 8011 wireless router so I can add the encryption?

Next I want to hack the @#$% out of this asshole til he dies. But that's another issue.

On my d-link 614+ all I have to do is power down and press the reset button on the back of the unit, then power it back up again. this resets it to factory defaults. You should go to the USR website and see if you can find any info on your router. They may have an online PDF manual.....

HOpe this helps
