WAN Driver in WinXP

I noticed under network connections in my control panel there are two connections listed, Local Area Connection(which is my ethernet card), and Local Are Connection 6(listed a WAN Network driver). They're both enabled.

Whats this WAN Network driver thing? I've been trying to see if setting up a specific IP would help my pc startup quicker, but could this be the problem? Are they both(my ethernet card and the WAN thingy) supposed to be enabled at the same time?

WAN = Wide Area Network.

LAN = Local Area Network.

So, what we`ll need, is:

-Describe the setup of how you connect to the Internet, e.g., hardware, type of connection, etc.

-Is this computer network with others? If so, how, and how many?

At this point, I would *guess* (which ain`t always the best way to solve things!) that you do not need the WAN driver.

It's possible that "WAN Driver" is the XP name for the PPP adapter, used for dial-up networking via modem.
