HI,
I just got my cable internet service. I was wondering can i setup a wan between me and my friend cable internet connection ? HOW ?
my another question is ,i still couldnt get the ftp server run at client pc ..... i am running sygate home network. thanks

If both of you are on the internet, this IS a wan... a big one...

If you know yours friends IP, and He knows yours, you both should be able to communicate.

Maybe you are more intrested in a "VPN" between you and your friend. This is a connection (over the current internet connection) where all traffic is encrypted, so no one can view the traffic between the 2 computers.

I believe that Windows 2000 has peer-to-peer VPN software already. I do not know how to configure it.

For a whole "home network" VPN (many computers computers connect to many different computers at you friends house) you each need to buy a cheap VPN router... they are a couple hundred bucks... or you could setup a Linux machine on each side and use Free/SWAN VPN software...

May i know wat kind of communicate ? file transfer ? share harddrive ? share folder ?

because both of us have homenetwork at our home ...... so is win2k VPN able us to see each other pcs in his and mine homenetowrk as well ?
