btw, this is my only overdraft i've received in all 5 years banking with wamu so i thought they could at least done this as a courtesy for a long term customer.

ING Direct for the WIN.

Electric Orange. You'll never go back.

i'd like to sign up for a credit union but don't you have to know someone or be in some sort of organization?

Most CUs (in my area) were once dedicated to certain business or groups but now have geographic limitations only (usualy big areas too). There are few organizations left that are big enough to support a bank by themselves. Even though CUs aren't strictly out for profit they need customers to stay afloat.

Anyone can get an account at a credit union. I have been considering it, someone was telling me they get cheaper interest rates on loans. No overdraft fees and loads of other perks.

I may need to look into this.
