Countless times over the years, I have read you guys' threads about huge sums of money being offered to you by African princes or long lost relatives for almost no effort on your part. I would be lying if I said I didn't begin to feel pangs of jealousy when yet another one of you was offered such a great gift.

When would it be my turn, surely it would be soon? Well, lucky for me, I had a nice surprise waiting in my spam folder when I got home. I copied it below so you can verify that it is authentic.

Hello

I believe this letter will meet you in the best of moods today. My name is Mr JON BURNS, Branch Manager of a bank in Europe here. I want you to cooperate with me in carrying out a deal at our bank branch , which will benefit both of us.But this must be kept a top-secret.

The deal is about an unclaimed/abandoned funds in our coffers for years now which I want you to help me move abroad as I will direct you so that we can share the proceeds 50/50. The amount involved is well over Seventy three Million Great British Pounds and was deposited by our customer who died in a plane crash so many years ago but for which none of his relations have come forward to claim.Several efforts at reaching his relations via his country's embassy have always proven abortive. And during our latest routined annual auditing excercise on Dormant Accounts, I discovered that he did not specify any next of kin/Will beneficiary in all the records being held by our bank for his account, and it then occurred to me that I could actually present someone to pose as his next of kin/Will beneficiary so that the person can apply for fund release/transfer to his account.I have decided to do this because it will end eventually in the Sovereign or Government Account , as the law stip
ulates for such funds after a spe

Our customer Mrs. Walla Abdelfattah died in a plane crash involving United Airlines Flight 93, which crashed in Southwest Pennsylvania in September 11, 2001.Story has it that she was married but got divorced at some point and that the said marriage is unfortunately without a child. You can check out this link

All I need from you to perfect this deal is your sincere cooperation and trust and assurance that you will keep it confidential because of the nature of the deal...you know what I mean. I can assure you that this transaction is risk-free because it will be carried out under legal arrangements that will shield us from any breach of the law.You should provide me the below details, if you are interested:

Your Full Name:-
Your Contact Address:-
Your direct Mobile telephone Number:-

Many will try to locate a news article to enhance the authenticity.
However, either bad grammar or something else will easily give them away to those that are alert.

I recently has one where the perp claimed to be an enlisted soldier trying to get funds out of Iraq.

Signed the email as
Major so & so

wow, fraud, encouraging others to commit fraud, (obviously it's bait but still) and then above it all, capitalizing on 9/11, just makes me want this fuck face to burn in hell.

I got this version and ended up calling it 'Nigerian Scam 2.0'. Just received this a couple of weeks ago. It is actually referring to the 'original' Nigerian scam and claimed how it's a scam and how she can help you get it, which makes it a little interesting.

Hello,
Dear friend my name is Nicole Salvador; I am a US citizen, 48 years Old. I reside in Cripple Creek Colorado 80813. United States of America, but honestly I am considering relocating because lady luck has smiled on me. I am one of those that have been trying to make claim of my inheritance in Nigeria for many years, I had paid over $20,000 trying to get my payment all to no avail.

So I decided to travel down to Nigeria with all my documents, And I was directed to meet Mrs Waziri farida who is the head of the EFCC an anti fraud agency in Nigeria and I contacted her and she explained everything to me. She said whoever is contacting us through emails are fake and she assigned an officer of the EFCC by name Dr. Michael Rotzinger who took me to the paying bank for the claim of my payment.

Right now I am glad to infom you that I have been paid 70% of the total funds owed to me and my late husband which amounted to US$17,000,000.I know you may still be bewildered by this email and why I contacted you. The reason is this, during one of my various meetings with the EFCC and the Central bank officials I came across your file and during one of my meetings with Dr Michael Rotzinger I discovered that you are among the many American citizens yet to recieve their funds. I saw your name as one of the beneficiaries, and your email address, that is why I decided to email you to stop dealing with those

The only money I paid after I met Mr. Michael Rotzinger was just $850 for the paper works, take note of that. Once again stop contacting those people, I will advise you to contact Mr.Micheal Rotzinger so that he can help you to deliver your funds instead of dealing with those liars who only play on your trust and honesty and demand all kinds of outrageous amounts to complete your transaction.

However, it is possible that this email may come as a shock to you and it is possible that you may have lost all interest in collecting your money from these theives, but if you are still intent on collecting your funds I want to assure you that I will be able to help you and then you can compensate me when it has been succesfully concluded. I need you to respond to this email if you are still interested in claiming your funds, but if you are no more interested then i wish you all the best.

Thank You and Be Blessed.

Mrs. Nicole Salvador.
