"The UFCW has tried to organize our associates for years," Terry Srsen, vice president of labor relations for Wal-Mart, said in the statement. "However, many of our associates are former union members -- they know better than anyone that the only guarantee a union can make is that it will cost the members money -- and that is why they continue to reject the UFCW."

I click on almost all threads. Then I found it amusing that you thought WalMart shutting down stores and people voting against labor unions was " "
BTW I think this belongs in P&N

Oh, bullsh!t. When a company's business model depends on the exploitation of its workers, yeah, it's going to oppose unionizing, and their VP is going to make idiotic statements like the one quoted.

Exploitation of workers? 😕
IT'S RETAIL WORK. It's no different than Target, the endless number of mall stores, and the vast majority of fast food joints.

I detest Wal Mart for multiple reasons, and I exercise my freedom of economic choice by not shopping there. It is my hope that someday the majority of consumers will choose likewise.

Unfortunately the average American is simply too stupid to see through the fascade.
wow.Wal-Mart employs 1.6 million people worldwide
It's the way WalMart schedules most workers as part-time to avoid having to pay them benefits. There's also that little thing that pops up once in a while were the WalMart employees are locked in the store and forced to work overtime.Originally posted by: vi_edit
