We get it, a woman doesn't know how to take care of herself without a husband to show her what to do.
I was raised for most of my childhood by my mother with only occasional contact with my father. She was born in 1947 so she was very much the right age in the 60's and 70's to buy into the feminist movement and cultural revolution in many ways. She didn't do drugs at all, but she was definitely one of those intellectual progressives and a strong feminist. She still is.
She raised my brother and I to respect women and value multiculturalism, education, equality, feminism.
I still respect SOME of the goals of feminism to this day. I respect the desire for equality. I respect the fact that some women are driven to work outside the home and compete in just about every field imaginable, whether it be wall street, NASA, coal mining... whatever.
I'm glad we as a culture moved to a point where those women who wanted to pursue those goals have the option to. That is a really positive development.
HOWEVER:
I think the feminist movement lost sight of it's legitimate goals and was corrupted by radicals who did not want equality but rather wanted to simply turn the tables. I also think that gender is a very real thing and that MOST boys and girls have built in preferences and inclinations. I think men are better suited to certain professions, especially at certain levels within those professions... than women are. And vice versa.
I think a lot of average, normal women who weren't really particularly dissatisfied with the old ways of stay at home mother, homemaker, child-raiser were CONVINCED that they were dissatisfied with that paradigm by the small core of militant, radical feminists who dragged them along on this cultural upturning which has had HUGELY negative effects on the happiness of both men and women, the stability of the family, and the entire western culture. Many of that core in the radical feminist movement were and are lesbians, I FULLY SYMPATHIZE WITH THEM. How much would it suck to effectively be born in the wrong gender body and then have all your instincts about what you want to do with your life thwarted by a society that didn't take someone like you into account?
A correction to account for people like that (and yes some entirely heterosexual women with similar motivations and desires!) WAS NECESSARY AND I'M GLAD WE MADE SAID CORRECTION.
However, at this point it has become an over-correction. We have gone too far in the other direction and we're suffering as a society for it.
Men and boys are in a crisis, our education system has been changed fundamentally in ways that no longer work for boys nearly as well. Boys are struggling in school horrendously, and high school and college graduation for boys is plummeting. Women primarily are avoiding the hard sciences and degrees WHICH WE NEED PEOPLE IN TO SUSTAIN OUR TECHNOLOGICAL CIVILIZATION WE ALL HAVE GROWN ACCUSTOMED TO, LET ALONE TO ADVANCE IT. Schools are becoming worse at offering such education to those who do still seek it.
There is a reason an astounding percentage of young women now are on anti-depressants. They were duped into a cultural revolution most of them didn't want, and it's becoming increasingly clear that most of them don't want it now. They'll give lip service to it still because they don't want to admit it, but more and more are admitting it. Many more than that FEEL something is wrong but haven't connected the dots. Same among men.
Gee, what a surprise that the gender roles and norms established over tens of thousands of years for our species turn out to have something to them?
The only reason our society is still (barely) sustaining itself despite this ceaseless assault on it's foundation is that that foundation took so long to build, for a while we will still limp along with enough males still doing the necessary tasks to make the civilization operate... but we have more and more people who no longer understand or appreciate the necessary basic tasks, the hard work, that allows a civilization to function and for it to sustain a class of disconnected, ivory-tower naval-gazers who seek to destroy it without realizing what they do.
Consider for just a moment how many buildings, STRUCTURES have ever been built in the history of our planet with no male involvement? Or how many factories run with no male involvement? How many cars, televisions, phones, computers, roads, dams, you name it... how many have happened with no male involvement and how many have happened with no female involvement?
Almost no building has ever been constructed solely with female labor/planning/ etc. It may even literally be NO building, but I suspect there are probably a couple of exceptions. Maybe.
Anyway I've rambled enough and I realize the point of what I'm saying may be getting a bit fuzzy, but here is a really fantastic video I cannot encourage you or anyone else to watch enough, this lady makes some very, very good points:
