sucks

I get pissed everytime I drive down this one road near my house. It proudly displays the signs "Your SPLOST pennies at work" with an amount of over 2 million dollars. The fvcked up thing is it is right beside a rock quary/ asphault plant. The reason the road was fvcked up to begin with is the large dumptrucks that use the road to get to the Interstate. I say make those fvckers fix it or at least give the asphault to the state/ county for free.

yes, with the three waltons aires each having 18 billion you would think they could afford it. But then again 20,000 workers getting to work say an average of 10 minutes eailer, it should pay for itself in not to much time.

Hmmm, a company like this should be in a position to do more things for the community then it does for the company. This would only be good company policy. It would be beneficial in the long run.

I wonder why it would be federal funding?

One would think that with all the money they're saving by hiring illegal immigrants, they would have no problems paying for widening the street themselves.

Our government and the President want to cut VA health benefits and medicade for the poor but yet they can give money to big business? Another example that our government could care less about it's citizens.

Walmart gets tons of money from the government in the form of tax breaks for building their stores in communities and running everything else out of business. But then again, a lot of other companies get tax breaks from the government.

This is really stupid though. If they tell Walmart they have to pay to widen the street, what are they going to do? Pick up and move somewhere else? That would cost a heck of a lot more than widening a street. (In other words, paying to widen the street is not necessary to keep Walmart in the area, therefore it's a stupid use of government money... especially FEDERAL government money)

I guess their presence in the area is pretty important to its economy, although I don't think its a smart thing to do.

That's all fine and dandy but people forget that Wal-Mart has no doubt been making hell for the Bentonville City and Arkansas State government. They probably threaten to relocate every time they want something done.
8th avenue isn't wide enough, widen it or we'll relocate to another state.
You're going to raise our property taxes? We're moving to another state.
We need more property to expand our hq. Do it or we're moving to another state.

They know the local and state government will do almost anything for Walmart to keep their hq where it is and Walmart will gladly abuse that.

And that's where the government needs to step up for once and say, "Bye. Oh yeah, enjoy the COST of relocating too. And don't forget to pay your back taxes."

Yes. Gawd forbid the government invest in something that actually makes a return!

While I'm against most government spending, I'd rather they spend it on infrastructure that promotes business and trade (thus creating jobs and more revenue) than piss it away on entitlements that do nothing but create dependency.

Of course the Pro Wally World & Pro Corporate run Government Folks in P&N are all for this.

Of course myopic folks like yourself fail to see that money spent on infrastructure and promoting trade results in higher revenues and MORE than pays for itself.

I'm sure the Chinese government invests heavily in the infrastructure needed for their business and trade.

I remember reading where Walmart buys around 10% of all of China's exports.

And I'm sure China invests heavily in infrastructure to make that more profitable for Chinese companies, thus creating higher revenues.
