I needed a small fan for circulation (to dry wet wood under my sink). I had such a fan I like but it's in usage, so I poke around and see that Walmart has the best price. It was over $5 everywhere but Walmart's price was $4.40. To get free shipping there I needed $45+ in my cart, IIRC. I find some other items at Walmart.com I could definitely use and that are also best price around, and that qualify for a free shipment order. These included a 3oz bottle of Weldwood Dap Contact Cement. I've had one for probably 2 decades, it has a metal cap with brush hanging down. When its contents start to congeal too much from evaporation or I use it to the point where the contents are low, I add Weldwood Contact Cement Solvent/Cleaner and/or fresh contact cement from a pint can (yeah, it's cheaper in bulk). Then I stir with a chopstick. I do it where there's ventilation (preferably outside), the fumes are rather toxic (FYI about contact cement, marvelous stuff but you don't want to breath the fumes).
I figured I need another 3oz bottle of the stuff because I renovated my garage last year and so have another work space.
To get my total over the free shipping threshold I add a 2nd 3oz bottle. Walmart broke up the order, shipping the fan first. That was fine with me, I wanted the fan ASAP, but the other stuff could wait. I get an email saying the cement would arrive on a Tuesday. I then get another email late that Tuesday saying it had arrived. But I didn't see it. I check online and they say wait 3 days and if an item doesn't arrive, contact them. I wait 3 days, it's not here, I call them. They set up a 2nd delivery, to arrive on a Wednesday. That comes, and I'm about to open the box and say to myself, "I can smell it already!" Whoa...they'd done a whack packing job, dumping the bottles in the bottom of a small box and piling on packing nuts and one of the bottles had shattered, evidently in shipment. There was wet cement all over, including on the 2nd bottle and it's label was coming off.
I call Walmart again and they sent out another box, said to arrive Saturday (yesterday). Friday evening I spot a small box on my porch and it's got 2 bottles of 3oz contact cement alright, nicely packed this time. OK! After cleaning up the bottle with cement on it as best I can with acetone, I now have 3 full bottles. But Saturday, I'm working in the front yard and notice the Fedex guy getting into his truck and driving away. Hmm, yep, another box with 2 bottles. So the one I got the day before (Friday) must have been the one they were said to have delivered 10 days before! I now have 5 new bottles plus my old one.
