Yet another gaming laptop significant markdown, this time an Intel/Nvidia combo with a newer GPU.

Edit: Yes, in for this one too. *hangs head in shame*

Edit: This is now showing an icon for "W+ Exclusive" on the product page. I don't remember seeing that there when I ordered mine. I guess I'll find out if they reject my order.

It's not too late! cancel the order or send it back. This is just your brain doing dumb stuff, be smarter than your brain.
The thing is, I'm not so sure it's "dumb stuff".

Let's look at a desktop build:

12100F $100
16GB DDR4-3200 $50
1TB NVMe $75
RTX 3050 8GB $329
120Hz 1080P IPS LCD monitor $150
mouse / keyboard $20
Windows 11 $30

Same price!

Edit: Forgot the motherboard / case / PSU! Laptop is CHEAPER than building a "budget" gaming desktop.

Just a heads up. I was looking at some Dell gaming laptop. The 120Hz screen was 45% NTSC while the 144Hz was 72% NTSC. That Gateway laptop may have an inferior display.

Laptop 3050 and desktop 3050 are different in performance apparently, not getting the full card 3050 there.
Not even close to desktop performance. There is a 35W and 80W version and you only get 4GB VRAM. The 80W is roughly comparable to a RX6500XT in the games I saw tested. The 35W is likely closer to the RX6400. That's if it isn't throttling after 30 minutes of gaming. The thermals of that Gateway are a big ?.

Most of the entry level gaming laptops like this I have serviced, have been single board setups. Only one stick of ram is replaceable in most. The one soldered on goes bad? Game over man! Game over! :p Some do have slots for both sticks; My HPs do.

11th gen i5 doesn't inspire excitement either. Maybe that's just me.

For perspective buyers -$700 is an okay deal, but know what you are getting, that's all. Because it is in no way comparable to a DIY desktop that is fully modular, facilitating simple and less expensive repairs, and easy upgrades.
